CII Virtual Session on Cyber Laws (Information Technology related Laws), Cyber Crimes and Cyber Security
Context Setting
Cyber law is a dynamic and evolving legal domain that governs the use of technology and the
internet. It plays a critical role in regulating various aspects of the digital
realm, including cybercrimes and cybersecurity.
The two most prominent and pressing aspects of
the Cyber Law are cybercrimes and cybersecurity.
Cybercrimes refer to illegal activities committed
using digital technology and the internet. These offenses can take many forms, including hacking,
identity theft, online fraud, cyberbullying, and the dissemination of malware
or viruses. On the other hand, cybersecurity focuses on safeguarding
digital systems, networks, and data from unauthorized access, damage, or
theft.
In an era where businesses, governments, and
individuals heavily rely on digital infrastructure, maintaining robust
cybersecurity measures is of paramount importance. Cyber law plays a crucial role in defining the legal obligations of
organizations and individuals when it comes to securing their digital assets. As technology
continues to advance, the complexities of cyber law, cybercrimes, and
cybersecurity will continue to grow.
