CII Virtual Workshop on ''Green Manufacturing''
Context Setting
The future of manufacturing is
green.
Manufacturing is a key contributor to India’s economic growth as well as well
as reduction
of CO2 footprint. Given India’s ambitious commitment of achieving net zero by 2070, focus is on Green
manufacturing with green products, processes, and green energy.
Manufacturing, as we know, is the process of turning raw materials into finished goods. That, by definition, is not sustainable. A sustainable business is thus expected to create interchangeable inputs and outputs.
Green Manufacturing, as a method of manufacturing, minimizes waste and pollution. Green Manufacturing aims at utilizing minimum natural resources and conserve them for future generations. The process refers to how goods and services are produced with limited effects on the environment under present technological and economic challenges.
Green Manufacturing, also
known as Lean & Green, is an approach to evaluating and improving the
manufacturing process. It’s based on Lean manufacturing principles and thus provides a
dynamic, proven, and successful approach to going green.
Ideally, a sustainable manufacturing plant would:
- Produce more with less time and
cost.
- Use green energy less Carbon
footprint.
- Value addition in every
activity
- Sustain in the competitive
environment.
- Produce zero waste.
- Cleaner air and water with less
environment impact
- Improved customer satisfaction
CII Naoroji Godrej Centre of
Manufacturing Excellence (CII CME) is organizing a 2-days Virtual Session on this crucial topic of Green
Manufacturing on 27th and 28th June 2024 (Thursday
& Friday), from 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. all days.
Objective
- Understand the various aspects of green manufacturing and the measures organisations may adopt to achieve sustainability across manufacturing processes, thus enabling resource efficiency and production network resiliency.
