Empathy is often an under rated skill that is behavioral by nature. Empathy is simply summarized to be the action of thinking from the perspective of the other person. While it could be such a simple culmination , what lies beneath the multilayered emotional intelligence soft skill is a mystery to be fully unraveled. Empathy is classified then after into three main facets namely the cognitive empathy, emotional empathy as well as the compassionate empathy. While all these three gain an equal status on the podium of behavioral skills, the concept of cognitive empathy has been researched deep for the strength it would bequeath upon the leaders of the corporate realm.

Cognitive empathy can be explained as the acute ability to understand the feeling that is being experienced by a participant in a discussion as well as what they would be thinking about the information being broadcast to them . This also extends further to predict their reactions to the information they have received from the discussion. Cognitive empathy makes us better communicators, because it helps us relay information in a way that best reaches the other person. If the definition reminds us of Adolf Hitler that harvested his ability to understand the exact reactions his words would cast upon the millions of people those were listening intently, then its absolutely relates!

The unique nature of this type of empathy is that it is not solely based on emotions alone. It is based on a lot of thoughts less impulsive and more calculative bu nature infused with the emotional empathy to form the right concoction to create clear win - win situation for all the stake holders those are involved in the team or the project. Hence, in culmination this can be used as an effective strategy that could yeild optimal results to the orgaisaiton as well as enhance the value of human result assets related to the business house respectively.While it comes to the process of negotiation or convinving the team, client , vendor or senior management for a project or purpose that is expected to benefit all this type of empathy comes handy in deciding on the manner in which the narrative could be sculpted to hit the right note. It makes the rpocess of igniting the minds to move towards perceiving the optimal picture with respect to the idea being pitched. Especially in case of collaborative brain storming as well as disruptive innovations this technique if used right is a boon to the company as well as the business leader.

There are certain quick strategies to adapt this cognitive empathy. Be it ideas or negotiations understanding the motives and goals of the other stake holders is the key. Thereafter, sculpting an all inclusive narrative that caters to the benefit of all the participating parties would lead to the success of the project. Last but not the least it has always been proven by umpteen researches that the tone of the discussion carries much more impact than the matter itself, thus the tone could be based on the cognitive empathy perceived by the leader.
